PZETS-2025 Oral Presentation：g-C₃N₄ Photocatalysts for a Regenerative Future 

Dr. Derek Hao is a materials scientist and environmental engineer, currently a Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellow at the School of Science, RMIT University (Australia). He was awarded the Humboldt Research Fellowship (Germany, 2022) and worked at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces. Dr Hao’s research lies at the intersection of materials science, nanotechnology, and renewable energy, focusing on sustainable solutions for water purification, waste valorisation, and solar-driven energy conversion. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in Top tire journals such as Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials, and Applied Catalysis B etc., achieving a Field-Weighted Citation Impact of 4.8, over 7000 citations, H-index 50, and inclusion in the Stanford-Elsevier Top 2% Scientists (2023-2025).

He has secured over AUD 1.3 million in research funding and holds two commercialised patents on bismuth catalysts. He not only pushes the boundaries of scientific knowledge in solar energy conversion, nanomaterials, and nanotechnologies but also aims at practical solutions for pressing environmental issues, demonstrating a profound commitment to leveraging science for a sustainable future.
